I knew this the moment someone pointed out to me the time of the first martyr – Stephen – was being stoned.

It was clearly understood that Jesus was sitting at the right hand of God after the resurrection.  With Stephen, as he was being stoned, Jesus was standing.

In reading the stories of martyrs scripture is always confirmed – “He who sits upon the throne will shelter them with His presence.”

The same presence that He promised when Jesus came – Emmanuel, God with us.

For the joy that Jesus knew was before Him – He endured the cross — they shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and He will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

The promise that matters to all those who make it through the tribulation.
