Confidence in . . .

This is a good self-awareness question that we need to ask ourselves from time to time.

I know that I want the answer to be Jesus, but that is not the case always.

Maybe I can start with what makes me feel less than confident.  It happened again today – hanging around an academic, post-graduate school and trying to conduct my business with those who are trying to obtain either a Master or Doctor degree while I barely have a Bachelor degree.

Then when I think about all those academics who look down on me I realize that while I must have confidence in Jesus because of what I lack, they actually have told Jesus to stand down because they have everything under control and have no need of Him.

At the end of the day do we have confidence in what we are with all of our degrees and pedigrees or are we confident in who we are in Christ Jesus?

At some point in our walk with Jesus we are going to realize that we count everything else as absolutely unimportant and immaterial to our final destination.  We will actually lay down those things that easily hinder us from being who God has called us to be and we will also see who God sees in us.

  1. Sounds like a case of growing pains! All those letters in front of their names and still can any of them give God advice? Blessings my Friend and peace be with you, Amen.

As someone with 3 degrees and professional training I can say it provides great resources for sharing God’s Good News. But I don’t even hang the pieces of paper on the wall anymore. Bowing before Jesus surpasses looking up to the degrees any day, and every day. I’ll change the cliche a bit: it’s not what you, or even who you know, that makes a difference; it’s Who you serve!
