It is the first message I ever received and its the same message today that makes me stand, and gives me every confidence that I am saved from being eternally separated from God. It is the only truth that I hold on to and can never let go.
Yes, Christ did die for my sins, yes He was buried, but most importantly, He was raised on the third day.
It was that raising from the dead part that the Jewish leaders of the day had to find a way to disclaim. It is also the stumbling block of Islam who fears that if true would dismantle the fabric of their religion.
Problem that lies with the Jewish leaders and Islam is that you cannot refute first hand evidence of the resurrection. Peter, one of Jesus’ twelve leaders saw Him, then all the twelve leaders saw Him, then five hundred followers saw Him, then His brother James saw Him, all the apostles that followed later saw Him.
It is in these terms that we know that death is not the end of life – but rather the beginning of eternal life. We preach a living Christ, not a religion or a dead person’s life style or character. It is for these terms of living that I live in and for Christ today, and everyday. It is for these terms that I walk with Him and He with me as we journey this world together.
