Sharing in their spiritual blessings

Our Jewish friends have indeed shared their spiritual blessings with the world.  The fulfillment of the promise to Abraham has come through them, through Christ and now through us.

What are we to do in light of these spiritual blessings that have come our way?

I love the stories of the faithful followers of Jesus during the Nazi occupation and the Stalin era – they stood ready and prepared to support those who provided them such a rich heritage.

The reminder of a number of passages in the Bible that continue to encourage us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

There are many followers of Christ among the Jewish community.  Some attend such synagogues that have a Rabbi that is a follower of Jesus.  SIM (Serving in Mission) has one missionary in Toronto devoted to bringing the Jewish people of Russian origin to Christ.

As we have received such a spiritual blessing from them, it seems our greatest gift  back to them can be spiritual as well, but I think the tangible expressions still matter most.  Looking out for them, assisting them in whatever struggles they face, providing material support when necessary are just a few things that come to mind.

Emmanuel, God with us, began in that very small country and ended in that small country.  May the Lord give us a heart for them in the same manner that His heart loves them.
