It is amazing though how many people think they have arrived at righteousness because they are so absolutely good people who rarely sin. In fact, if it were not in Scripture that all have sinned, they would claim that they have never sinned.
So when we start talking about a relationship with Jesus, walking with God, and its based on faith not on the fulfillment of the law – they just do not get it. It is like we are talking a different language. Unfortunately, there are too many confessions of faith still based on the law.
Jesus has become a stumbling stone to those who cannot comprehend that one can have a relationship with Him, and have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life all because of their faith and not because of their works.
The stumbling is an incredible act to watch – worthiness, not attained by effort, but through acceptance by the heart.
I will say this one thing though – I have seen others carry this too far and have declared complete freedom from any kind of law – no, the law still serves its purpose in understanding the character of God and it still is a big part of understanding boundaries of faith.
To see Jesus, not as a stumbling stone, but as one who walks with you, take His hand today and ask Him to show you the way.
