When a man marries a woman, they are bound together for the rest of their lives – the law is binding on this matter. If either of them die, the other is discharged from the law. If either of them lives with another while the other is alive, that would be called adultery.
The same principle applies to us while we walk with God.
We have died to the law through the body of Jesus, so that we might belong to Him who has been raised from the dead. While we were living in our own passions, the law accused us and drove us to destruction. Now, since we are discharged from the law, dead to that which previously held us captive, we have left serving the old written code and now live a new life of the Spirit.
The law is not sin, for without it we would never had known sin. However sin leads to destruction. Jesus came to deliver us from that so that by dying, we were discharged from the law and the penalty of spiritual death and now live to walk with Him each and every day. So take the opportunity of dying each morning to who you are under the law and give your new life to Jesus and a take joy in the fact that He wants to walk with you.
