evil suppresses the truth

The very fact that evil exists at all is my number one problem in trying to introduce the love of God to someone.

The truth is as clear as day and yet the very presence of evil seems to declare to most people that God actually does not care.

I have shared from time to time the gentleman I meet every three months and we look at evil and truth from all kinds of different aspects.  Unfortunately, he sees his point of view winning the majority of times.

However, unfortunately as well, evil is only a half-truth told as the whole-truth and we know that means it’s the un-truth.

Why do you think understanding and knowing that 4,000 years before Christ was even born, Abraham new He was coming?  Why do you think that since the day Jesus was saying prepare for the kingdom of heaven, He also said He was preparing a place for us and would return again to receive us into His kingdom?

These truths matter.  If 350 prophecies of Jesus coming were truth, then imagine the prophecies relating to the destruction of evil is truth.

If someone is to tie a millstone around their neck for deceiving someone and misguiding them away from Jesus – imagine that being a better alternative than facing the wrath of God in your appointed time.

  1. Yes, evil is always a great problem in understanding God, and there are many who can never really grasp it.

Yet it is unique to us in this physical realm, and can be a gift greater than if we never had to endure trials.

Hard to understand, but rich and varied once understood.

    God bless you.

Why focus on evil when we could focus on the good? And why forget that evil prevails be good people do nothing about it (to quote a famous insight)? And the biggest question, do you contribute to the evil or make the people you meet a little happier? Even though I suffer a lot from evil for doing good I choose the good, and eternally that’s not bad!
    Peace

I am not quite certain I understand or maybe even have been able to connect all the dots on your excellent questions. My context was Romans 1:18 – “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth.” RSV

Sorry, the questions weren’t for YOU to answer, but the people who want to make the existence of evil the reason they reject God! I should have prefaced the comment with that and made it clear. I find these are hard to answer by the naysayers and gives me, sometimes only briefly, a chance to say something good about God.

I thought so at first, it was my second look that made we wonder a bit – blessings!

Glad we got that cleared up.
        Peace
