Every major Bible translation pegs this word as the key description that Paul found himself in one day while praying.  A denominational translation uses the description “ecstasy” and I am not sure how they thought that was any better and a smaller Bible publisher took the word right out of the text.  There was one that described it as a “visionary moment” – I could handle that.

The word only shows up in three experiences – one via Peter and two through Paul.  So it is definitely not significant.

Does it have any significance in how I walk with God today?

Actually, I think I understand the message.  All three experiences happened while they were in prayer.  They were not looking for, nor did they in any way induce the experience.  So this is not something to look for, it is a place where God places us where He can share something rather significant and where He needs our undivided attention.

I will keep on praying and allow God to communicate to me in any way He deems necessary.  Maybe if I listen well enough I can avoid the entire “trance thing” altogether.
