Beware of false prophets

One of the benefits of having God with you is the ability to discern.  His still, small voice guides and leads and points things out that you would normally have missed before.

Discernment is not a gift – it is the practice of the presence of God.  When you have it, you just know who doesn’t regardless of what they do or say.

Discerning of spirits – good and evil – is a gift from the Holy Spirit.

Warning here – just because we walk with God does not mean we catch-all the signals if we are not paying attention.  Remember Joshua and the Gibeonites?  They fooled him and everyone else.  His radar screen was not on during the day and he thought he could handle it on his own – without God’s help.

That happens because we are taught to look for fruit in their lives that meet or reject their claim in knowing God.  Sometimes time is not on our side and we need to be able to discern then what is really there in their spirit.

Teaching these days is getting so tricky.  I work with SAT-7 Canada, a ministry that raises money so that we can operate five 24/7 satellite television channels in the Middle East and North Africa.  They support and encourage the Church family.  One of our aims is to provide accurate provision of Bible reading, sharing, teaching, mentoring, coaching and learning in order to avoid false teachings that might be persuaded to mix in a few other religious trends that might be popular but are not based in the Word of God or in the context of the Christian worldview.

Walk with God today – no need to look out for wolves, trust God to point them out along the way.  Enjoy the day He has given you and thank Him for the experiences that bless and encourage you in your walk with Him.
