Beware of practicing your piety

What a great warning to us all as we walk each day realizing that God is with us.

It is so easy to slip into the “practice” mode of formality to build a wall so that others cannot see within you as to what is really going on.  I believe that I need to stay transparent so that others can see my journey, the good – the bad – and the ugly.

Will they judge me?  Most definitely – few have learned to love as their first reaction.

However, to truly show that God is with me is to show that even when I am not perfect, He is.  My sermons will still be infused with His Words, my strength will still come from His right hand and His forgiveness is in amble supply to a contrite and humble heart.

So let’s stop practicing our piety, let’s be real – by doing so, people will really see what God is doing with us and to Him be the glory and the honour, forever and ever, Amen.
