There are quite a few different examples of what spiritual fruit looks like and they all come with the encouragement that if you are a follower of Christ and if you have made a decision that He is Lord in your life – then your life is definitely going to change and you are going to see spiritual fruit-growing and shaping your character more and more each day.
For those who were around in the early 70′s, there was a lot of talk beginning then about the end times – but not like today. There was a fear about the future that was incredible. My dad dragged us to all the movies, he bought pails of soybeans, he told everyone about the end of the world and the coming of Christ. He “feared” more people into the kingdom of God than anyone else I knew.
Unfortunately, those people were only worried about escaping the judgement. They were not interested in making Jesus Lord of their lives. We knew that because He did not stir their hearts towards the things of God. Church, the Bible, and praying were just not things that mattered to them.
If you ever doubt that you are a follower of Christ, or if you wonder if you are bearing fruit – just pause and see what kind of person you are today compared to what you were a year ago. If you struggle with that, ask a few people you know. If they see fruit, they will tell you and if they don’t, they will struggle with the question. Bearing fruit is a great sign that indicates one relationship and standing with God as they walk with Him each day.
